Yani Tseng, Inbee Park and Paula Creamer chip in to help local junior golf development (December 3, 2013; Taipei) In light of the old Chinese adage “To climb high, one must start from low”, Swinging Skirts Golf Team has been devoted to the development of junior golf, in addition to hosting premier professional golf event such as the World Ladies Masters. Young up-and-coming golfers from across Taiwan gather each month to compete on a regular basis. Yani Tseng, Inbee Park and Paula Creamer were very generous to pledge donations of USD 100,000, USD 50,000 and USD 50,000 respectively at the star player arrival press conference to the “Swinging Skirts Junior Dream-chasing Foundation”, in hopes of fostering more golf stars from Taiwan. According to Yani Tseng, developing junior golfers to sustain Taiwan’s golf growth has been one of her long-term goals. It was based on this ideal that Yani decided to partner with Swinging Skirts to host Yani Tseng Swinging Skirts Golf Camp between December 12th and December 14. On the other hand, Inbee Park and Paula Creamer, who have both been heedful of junior golf development, didn’t think twice about contributing to the meaningful cause. Swinging Skirts Golf Team chairman Johnson Wang revealed that after comparing the overall golf environments between Taiwan and Korea, he was shocked to find that both the numbers of Taiwan’s professional golfers and junior golfers are out of proportion to their Korean counterparts. Swinging Skirts Golf Team, therefore, decided to launch the “Dream-Chasing Cup” Junior Golf Tournament. At the beginning, “Dream-Chasing Cup” was limited to southern and central Taiwan. Since early 2013, it was expanded to cover northern Taiwan as well, as elite junior golfers from around the island gather each month to develop their game via competition. It is worth noting that during the “Dream-Chasing Cup “competition, three junior golfers are paired with a veteran pro, thereby the youngsters are able to learn on the fly. To encourage standout junior players, Swinging Skirts Golf Team has not only donated all the ticket proceeds from the World Ladies Masters to the “Dream-Chasing Cup” for two consecutive years, but also decided to fund their trips to take part in the upcoming Yani Tseng Invitational presented by Swinging Skirts, a female junior golf event on the US AJGA tour next June.
